The preferred reading would be when people enjoy the mystery genre and themes shown
Some people will have oppositional readings where they do not enjoy any of the show perhaps because of the confusing narrative, or how it is subtitled and not in English.
Finally the negotiated reading would be were people may perhaps just like the soundtrack played and for that reason are watching the show, or one of their favorite actors is in it, this would be a negotiated reading.

Genre conventions are repeated and reinforced overtime and this is why producers use them as it allows them to target audiences.
