Television is a specialised industry

- TV shows want to appeal to a wider audience
- Humans is a co-production between AMC and channel 4, so humans is not just a British show
- International co-production is growing and broadcasters such as HBO have achieved global success
- Broadcasters are now 'narrowcasters' with multiple channels targeting different (sometimes more niche audiences
- Audiences consume texts in a variety of ways as the industry has increased portability via new platforms (tablets, phones, etc..) and streaming services (catch-up, netflixs, amazon etc...)

- DVD/blue-ray
- 4oD
- Netflix
- STV - Sweden
Marketing of Humans:
Spot Advert - is an advert that comes up between tv shows and is usually 30 seconds long
The humans marketing campaign was atypical and subversive
The spot advert:
- It does not refrence the tv show whats so ever
- None of characters played are shown
- It looks like an advert for selling and marketing the synths rather than advertising the show
- soft voiceover and calming music atypical for a sci-fi genre and is opposing to what the tv show
- It's making them seem real when synths are not actual real - its a 'fake' advert
- Bright natural lighting - colour grading is completely different to the shows
- 'closer to humans than ever before' - the last line said of the advert#
