Proctor and Gamble

This is a large American company who provide branded items that specialise in a wide range of personal health care and hygiene products.
They launched Tide in 1946 and it quickly became popular and has maintained ever since.

In the 1950's woman's roles were to clean, cook and care for the children whilst the men were out working to earn money for their family's.
there were many gender inequality's and even though the woman had the right to vote since 1929, that was pretty much the limit of the limit of their equality's. working woman were paid much less than the men and many teachers and parents had low expectations for girls, just 1.2% of girls went to university in the 1950's.

Radio and magazines became popular resulting in woman being a key audience

This is an advertising agency in the united states, famous for cola adverts. they make adverts for proctor and gamble. they worked exclusiveley with proctor and gamble due to market reserch proving that they had a good repuation within the market, this made people confident with this brand as it had been producing high quality products for over 100 years.

The lexis used in the tag line communicates the target audience of the advert to woman this is further anchored by the central image of the house wife.
The Z line and the colour is also drawing the audience in this is because the eye is drawn first to the bright red capital slogan. 
There is an emphasis on the word clean which shows why they have chosen the background to be white as its a bright clean colour
